Pune: Sammeer Kulkarni has joined Bajaj Life Insurance as its Chief Information Security Officer, taking charge of the life insurer’s information and cybersecurity function.
Kulkarni announced the move through a LinkedIn post, stating that he had started a new position as Chief Information Security Officer at Bajaj Life Insurance. The appointment brings an experienced banking and insurance cybersecurity leader to the company as financial institutions face growing requirements around cyber resilience, customer-data protection, regulatory compliance and digital-risk governance.
In his new role, Kulkarni is expected to oversee Bajaj Life’s enterprise information-security strategy, cyber-risk management, security governance and protection of critical technology assets. His responsibilities will also involve supporting the secure operation of the insurer’s customer-facing digital platforms and broader technology ecosystem.
Before joining Bajaj Life Insurance, Kulkarni served as Chief Information Security Officer at Zurich Kotak General Insurance. He had initially joined Kotak Mahindra General Insurance as CISO in 2023, before the insurer became part of Zurich Insurance Group following Zurich’s acquisition of a majority stake in the business.
Prior to Kotak Mahindra General Insurance, Kulkarni was Vice President – Information Security at BNP Paribas. His earlier professional experience includes cybersecurity and information-security roles across IndusInd Bank, IndiaFirst Life Insurance, Polaris Software, Bharti AXA Life Insurance, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Centurion Bank of Punjab, IL&FS and SMC System Integrators.
His experience across banking, life insurance, general insurance and financial services gives him exposure to security operations, risk management and the protection of regulated technology environments.
At Bajaj Life, Kulkarni joins a technology organisation led by Chief Information and Digital Officer Goutam Datta, who oversees the company’s enterprise technology and digital function, including its digital platforms, data and analytics capabilities and large-scale transformation programmes.

The company operates through more than 595 branches and has a workforce of approximately 26,000 employees, supported by a network of around 1.6 lakh insurance consultants.
