Germany-based artificial-intelligence robotics company Agile Robots has acquired a majority stake in Bengaluru-based XNG Automation, strengthening its position in India’s industrial and warehouse-automation market.
The companies have not disclosed the financial terms of the transaction or the exact size of the stake acquired by Agile Robots.
XNG Automation develops automation systems for factories and intralogistics operations. Intralogistics covers the movement, storage and management of materials and goods within warehouses, manufacturing facilities and distribution centres.
Through the transaction, Agile Robots will combine its AI-powered robotics portfolio with XNG Automation’s experience in designing and deploying factory and warehouse-automation systems. The acquisition is also expected to provide the German company with wider access to customers in India’s expanding manufacturing sector.
Agile Robots develops physical-AI systems that combine artificial intelligence, robotics hardware and industrial automation. Unlike conventional industrial machines that primarily follow predefined instructions, physical-AI systems are designed to perceive their surroundings, process real-world information and adapt their actions.
The Munich-headquartered company was founded in 2018 by robotics researchers associated with the German Aerospace Center. Its portfolio covers industrial robots, automation software, autonomous mobile robots and humanoid systems. The company operates in India and has a facility in Tamil Nadu for producing AI-enabled robotic systems.
The XNG Automation investment follows Agile Robots’ strategic research partnership with Google DeepMind. Announced in March 2026, that collaboration is focused on integrating Google DeepMind’s Gemini Robotics foundation models into industrial robotic systems.
Agile Robots has also expanded through acquisitions. In April, it completed the acquisition of the European and North American assets of thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering. The acquired business now operates as Krause Automation within the Agile Robots portfolio.
The company has said that its wider portfolio allows it to provide services ranging from robot hardware and AI software to factory-system integration.
The latest transaction gives Agile Robots a larger presence in India at a time when manufacturers and logistics companies are increasing their adoption of robotics, automated material-handling systems and AI-enabled production technologies.
