WPP has appointed Mihir Bhatt as Chief Financial Officer of its Australia and New Zealand operations, expanding his leadership responsibilities across the advertising and communications group in the region.
Bhatt will take charge of WPP’s financial strategy, commercial operations and financial performance across Australia and New Zealand. Alongside the expanded mandate, he will continue serving as Chief Financial Officer of WPP Media Australia & New Zealand, a position he has held for the past five years.
In his broader role, Bhatt will work closely with WPP’s agencies and regional leadership teams to support business growth, operational transformation and value creation for clients. His responsibilities are also expected to include strengthening financial governance and helping the organisation use data, artificial intelligence and automation to improve decision-making and commercial performance.
Bhatt said the appointment marked an opportunity to work more closely with agencies and leadership teams across WPP’s wider business. He also highlighted the growing role of finance leaders in helping organisations adopt emerging technologies and use data more effectively to create a competitive advantage.
During his tenure as CFO of WPP Media ANZ, Bhatt has contributed to the organisation’s finance transformation, commercial strategy and growth initiatives. He has worked with senior executives and business teams to strengthen financial performance and prepare the media business for changes in the advertising landscape.
Bhatt also serves as Chair of the Finance Committee at the Media Federation of Australia, where he contributes to financial stewardship and the long-term sustainability of the country’s media-agency industry. His earlier professional experience includes roles at Mindshare and Naked Communications.
