Bengaluru-based autonomous logistics startup Airbound has raised $37 million in a Series A funding round led by Greenoaks, with participation from DoorDash, Physical Intelligence founder Lachy Groom, Lightspeed and Humba Ventures. The transaction takes the three-year-old company’s cumulative funding to nearly $50 million, following an $8.65 million seed round completed in October 2025.
Airbound will deploy the capital across engineering, commercial manufacturing and market expansion as it works to move its aircraft beyond limited pilots into higher-volume logistics operations. The company is developing autonomous delivery drones around a design philosophy in which the aircraft weighs less than the cargo it carries. This reverses the weight distribution associated with conventional aircraft and is intended to reduce the energy and operating cost of moving individual packages.
Founder and chief executive Naman Pushp has positioned the technology as an attempt to close the cost gap between rapid aerial delivery and road freight. Airbound is initially concentrating on relatively lightweight and time-sensitive shipments, including medical samples, ecommerce orders and retail deliveries. The company argues that improving the aircraft’s underlying physics can make autonomous flight commercially viable for categories currently transported by road.
The startup has signed a commercial deployment agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop a drone delivery network across three cities. The proposed network is expected to cover retail, healthcare and ecommerce use cases, with Airbound eventually targeting 10,000 flights a day. The agreement gives the company a defined operating environment in which to expand route density, manufacturing output and fleet-management capabilities.
Airbound has already completed a healthcare logistics pilot with Narayana Health. Between January and March 2026, its aircraft transported diagnostic and medical samples between a clinic in Bengaluru’s Banashankari neighbourhood and a central laboratory in Electronic City. The company said it completed more than 1,000 flights during the pilot without a failure. That deployment provided operational data across routing, payload handling, turnaround times and autonomous flight performance in a dense urban environment.
DoorDash participated through its DoorDash Labs unit, which works on autonomous delivery technologies. The investment gives Airbound a strategic connection to a global delivery platform that is developing its own aerial logistics capabilities. DoorDash recently secured US Part 135 air-carrier certification, allowing it to undertake more integrated commercial drone-delivery testing in that market.
The funding arrives amid greater investor concentration on Indian deep-tech companies with proprietary engineering and intellectual property. Indian deep-tech startups raised approximately $2.2 billion across 187 transactions during 2026, compared with $1.6 billion across 487 deals during 2025. Airbound’s round is therefore part of a market in which fewer companies are receiving larger commitments as investors prioritise technology validation, manufacturing readiness and a credible route to commercial deployment.
