Amazon Web Services (AWS) has appointed Saurov Sarkar as Head of Emerging Enterprises & Indirect Business for India and South Asia, where he will lead a business focused on supporting emerging enterprises at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.
Sarkar announced the new leadership role on LinkedIn, describing September 1 as the beginning of a new charter and a new team. In his new mandate, he will work closely with emerging enterprises to make AI and cloud capabilities more accessible, while helping businesses address their challenges and identify opportunities for growth.
The business led by Sarkar serves as an incubation engine for the next generation of AWS enterprise customers in India. His mandate will therefore involve working with emerging businesses and supporting their technology-led growth as they increasingly adopt cloud and AI capabilities.
Sarkar brings extensive experience in enterprise technology, go-to-market strategy, sales leadership and business growth. His professional background includes leadership experience at SAP, HP and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where he developed expertise in building and scaling enterprise go-to-market initiatives and working with emerging and growth-oriented businesses.
In his announcement, Sarkar highlighted the opportunity to work with a team combining talent, energy and ambition, while building a business with significant scale and growth possibilities. He also acknowledged Sandeep Dutta for the opportunity and thanked colleagues, managers and mentors who have supported his professional journey.
As Head of Emerging Enterprises & Indirect Business, India & South Asia, Sarkar will focus on strengthening engagement with emerging enterprises and contributing to AWS’s broader growth ambitions in the region. His role brings together his experience in enterprise technology and GTM leadership with AWS’s focus on expanding cloud and AI adoption among the next generation of businesses.
