
Fishin’ India Pvt Ltd has appointed Probal Kumar Roy as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Country Head, bringing an experienced finance and business leader into a broader role covering financial management, governance, business operations and strategic growth. The appointment was announced through a LinkedIn post by Leadership Announcements, which said Roy would help strengthen the company’s financial leadership and support strategic initiatives across the India business.
Roy’s appointment is effective September 1, 2026, according to Financial Express CFO, which reported that he joins Fishin’ India with more than two decades of experience across finance, strategy, business operations and organisational leadership. The publication also noted his 17-year stint with the Karam Chand Thapar Group.
In his new position, Roy will lead the finance function while also taking responsibility for the India business. His mandate includes financial strategy, country-level P&L management, capital allocation, treasury, costing and financial planning and analysis, along with corporate governance and business transformation. Other reports on the appointment said his responsibilities will also extend to areas such as transfer pricing, restructuring and institutionalisation.
Before joining Fishin’ India, Roy most recently served as President at Karam Chand Thapar & Bros. (Coal Sales) Ltd. His career with the group included senior responsibilities spanning enterprise finance, FP&A, mergers and acquisitions, governance, shared services and seafood operations. During his tenure as Vice President and Head of FP&A and M&A, he was involved in capital allocation, investment evaluation, restructuring, treasury, controllership and portfolio management across a diversified portfolio exceeding ₹1,000 crore.
Roy has also held operating responsibilities within the seafood sector. As Business Head – B2B FMCG | Frozen Seafood | Waterbase | Contorni, he helped scale a B2B seafood business from below ₹0.5 crore to approximately ₹20 crore within 24 months, according to reports on his appointment. He also served as President – Handy Waterbase | Seafood Processing, where his responsibilities included managing a 250-plus-employee processing operation and working across customer diversification, productivity, yield improvement and cash-flow management.
Earlier in his career, Roy held finance and governance roles including Head – Finance & Accounts – Processing at The Waterbase Limited, Deputy Vice President & Head – MIS, General Manager & Head – Shared Services, Company Secretary & Manager – Internal Audit, Deputy Company Secretary and Company Secretary & Manager – Costing. His previous organisations include Kolkata West International City, DIC India Limited, Polar Pharma India Ltd and Carews Pharma India Pvt Ltd.
Fishin’ India is part of The Fishin’ Company Holdings LLC and was established in 2018. The company describes itself as an Indian affiliate focused on delivering sustainable seafood to customers globally. Its India operations are expanding into projects involving hatcheries, feed mills and processing facilities, with the company aiming to develop a vertically integrated supply chain.
The company is headquartered in Hyderabad and operates within the fisheries sector. Fishin’ India says it draws on the resources and expertise of The Fishin’ Company, which it describes as one of the world’s largest importers of tilapia and frozen fish.
Roy’s appointment combines financial leadership with experience in business operations, governance and seafood processing, giving him a dual mandate across finance and country-level business responsibilities as Fishin’ India continues developing its operations in India.
