His experience spans the quick-service restaurant (QSR), retail, FMCG and restaurant sectors, where he has worked on technology systems and transformation programmes supporting business operations and growth.
Before joining Third Wave Coffee, Dutta served as Chief Technology Officer at Theobroma Foods. Theobroma’s official profile describes him as a technology leader with more than 25 years of experience, particularly across the food and beverage industry. His career has included technology leadership positions involving enterprise systems, digital platforms and technology infrastructure.
Earlier, Dutta held technology leadership responsibilities at Sapphire Foods, where he was Head of IT for KFC and Pizza Hut. He also served as Vice President – Technology at Gourmet Investments. Across these roles, Dutta has worked on large-scale technology transformations covering enterprise systems, ERP, digital and omnichannel platforms, payments, cloud, cybersecurity, and data and analytics. Third Wave Coffee said his background in building scalable technology ecosystems and using digital transformation to support business growth will be relevant as the company develops its technology platforms.
In his new position, Dutta will lead technology initiatives at Third Wave Coffee, with the company highlighting its plans to strengthen digital capabilities and build technology platforms for its next phase of growth. His appointment comes as the coffee chain continues to scale its operations, making technology infrastructure and digital systems an increasingly important part of its business operations.
Dutta’s appointment also adds a technology executive with experience across multiple consumer-facing sectors to Third Wave Coffee’s leadership team. His previous roles at Theobroma, Sapphire Foods, Gourmet Investments and McDonald’s have given him exposure to technology requirements across restaurant and food-service businesses as well as broader enterprise environments.
With Dutta taking over as CTO, Third Wave Coffee is set to further develop its technology and digital infrastructure as the company works on scaling its operations. His mandate will cover the technology capabilities needed to support that expansion, including enterprise platforms, digital systems and other technology functions highlighted by the company.
