Gajapathy Srinivasalu Elevated to CIO and CISO at Adani Total Private Limited

Gajapathy Srinivasalu has been elevated to a dual role as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Adani Total Private Limited, taking on an expanded technology and cybersecurity mandate within the organisation. Srinivasalu announced the development on LinkedIn, describing the new responsibility as an expanded mandate covering enterprise technology leadership, cybersecurity, compliance and cyber-risk governance.

In his expanded role, Srinivasalu will be responsible for enterprise technology leadership as well as cybersecurity oversight across IT and operational technology (OT) environments. His mandate also includes compliance management, implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA), cyber-risk governance and strengthening the organisation’s overall security posture.

Srinivasalu said the evolving threat landscape has made cybersecurity more than a technology challenge and described it as a business imperative. He added that he remains committed to enabling secure growth, operational resilience, regulatory compliance and digital innovation across Adani Total Private Limited.

The elevation brings technology and information-security responsibilities together under a broader leadership mandate at the company. The combined CIO-CISO role gives Srinivasalu responsibility for both the organisation’s technology direction and the security of the digital and operational environments supporting its business activities.

Adani Total Private Limited is a 50:50 joint venture between Adani and TotalEnergies, established to develop sustainable energy projects in India. The company operates through its subsidiaries across the energy infrastructure ecosystem. One of its key businesses is the Dhamra LNG Terminal in Odisha, operated by Dhamra LNG Terminal Private Limited. The terminal has a regasification capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and was commissioned in May 2023.

The technology and cybersecurity responsibilities associated with Srinivasalu’s expanded role are particularly relevant to an energy infrastructure business where IT and OT environments form an important part of operational systems. Protecting these environments requires organisations to address cyber risks while maintaining operational continuity, regulatory compliance and resilience.

Srinivasalu brings experience across information technology, cybersecurity, IT consulting, project management, programme management and computer networking. His professional profile also reflects his association with the Indian School of Business, where he completed executive education programmes. APAC News Network, in its report on the leadership development, has also highlighted his earlier professional experience across organisations including Adani Ports and SEZ, Schneider Electric India and Colt Technology Services.

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering and a Master of Technology in Network Communication and Security. He has also completed the Senior Leadership Program for Chief Technology Officers at the Indian School of Business.

The expanded mandate comes at a time when enterprises are placing greater emphasis on integrating technology leadership with cybersecurity, privacy and risk management. For organisations operating technology-dependent infrastructure, the ability to strengthen digital systems while managing cyber threats and regulatory requirements has become increasingly important.

By taking on the dual CIO and CISO responsibilities, Srinivasalu will now oversee a wider technology and security agenda at Adani Total Private Limited. His mandate spans enterprise technology, IT and OT security, DPDPA implementation, compliance, cyber-risk governance and digital resilience.

Srinivasalu’s elevation marks an expansion of his leadership responsibilities within Adani Total Private Limited and places both technology transformation and cybersecurity under a broader strategic framework. His focus, as outlined in his announcement, will remain on supporting secure growth, operational resilience, regulatory compliance and digital innovation across the organisation.
