Prakash Patel has joined Baroda Global Shared Services Ltd. (BGSSL) as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Privacy Officer, taking on a senior cybersecurity leadership role at the Bank of Baroda subsidiary. Patel announced his move through LinkedIn, stating that he has started a new position as Chief Information Security Officer at Baroda Global Shared Services.
BGSSL has also welcomed Patel to the organisation, confirming his role as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) & Privacy Officer. The company said Patel brings over 17 years of experience spanning information security, cybersecurity governance, privacy, IT infrastructure, risk management and regulatory compliance.
In his new role, Patel will contribute to strengthening BGSSL’s cybersecurity, privacy and digital resilience framework. His experience across information security and risk management is expected to support the organisation as it continues to operate technology-enabled banking and shared-services processes while maintaining regulatory and security requirements. BGSSL specifically highlighted his expertise in building secure, resilient and future-ready organisations.
Patel’s appointment comes at a time when cybersecurity, data protection and regulatory compliance are becoming increasingly important for organisations operating across banking and financial-services environments. BGSSL handles high-volume processes for Bank of Baroda and uses technology and standardised processes to support its operations, making information security and operational resilience important elements of its business infrastructure.
Baroda Global Shared Services Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of Baroda and is headquartered in GIFT City, Gandhinagar. The company was established in 2017 and operates as a shared-services centre supporting major processes across the bank. Its activities include banking operations, account-management services, forex trade operations, loan processing, banking automation and contact-centre operations.
The company has positioned BGSSL as a technology-enabled operations centre focused on handling high volumes of banking processes while maintaining regulatory compliance. Its specialised teams use technology and global best practices to support productivity, turnaround times and operational consistency.
The CISO role at BGSSL encompasses a broad security and risk mandate. The company’s CISO requirements have included enterprise-wide information security, cyber-risk and data-protection strategy, regulatory compliance, security operations oversight, incident response, vulnerability management, cloud and application security, identity and access management, and data-protection controls. The role also involves working with senior management on cybersecurity risks and regulatory requirements.
Privacy will also form an important part of Patel’s mandate, given his designation as CISO & Privacy Officer. BGSSL’s security framework includes data protection, privacy-by-design, security-by-design and controls around data classification, encryption, retention and secure disposal. These responsibilities align with the increasing importance of data protection and cybersecurity governance within financial-services operations.
Patel’s move also comes as BGSSL continues to strengthen its information-security leadership. Prior to his arrival, Vimal Bhatt was publicly identified with the organisation as Lead – Information Security / Acting CISO. Patel’s appointment therefore brings a dedicated CISO and Privacy Officer into the company’s leadership structure.
With more than 17 years of experience across information security, cybersecurity governance, privacy, infrastructure, risk management and regulatory compliance, Patel now takes on responsibility for helping strengthen BGSSL’s security and privacy capabilities. His move marks a new phase in his cybersecurity leadership career and comes as the organisation continues to build secure and resilient technology-enabled banking operations.
