Deloitte has appointed Nilesh Lad as Managing Director, where he joins the firm’s AI & Engineering / Industry Solutions practice with a focus on insurance technology, AI-led transformation and technology strategy.
Lad brings extensive experience in the insurance technology sector, with expertise spanning technology architecture, modernisation, process transformation and digital solutions. In his new role at Deloitte, he will work across technology and industry-focused initiatives, with a particular focus on applying modern technology and AI capabilities to insurance businesses.
Before joining Deloitte, Lad spent nearly 19 years with PwC, where he served as Director – Senior Technical Architect. During his tenure, he built and led insurance technology practices and worked with property and casualty (P&C) as well as specialty insurance carriers.
His experience at PwC covered technology strategy and transformation across key insurance functions, including claims, underwriting and operations. His work involved helping insurers address technology and process requirements while modernising their technology environments and developing digital solutions.
Lad’s professional background combines technical architecture with insurance-domain expertise, giving him experience across both technology delivery and business transformation. His work with insurance carriers has included developing technology strategies, modernising technology platforms and supporting transformation programmes across core insurance operations.
His move to Deloitte comes as the firm continues to expand its Engineering, AI & Data capabilities. Deloitte’s practice brings together engineering, industry knowledge, AI and data-driven approaches to help organisations modernise technology platforms, transform core operations and develop new digital capabilities. The firm also provides services covering the full software delivery lifecycle and technology transitions, including movement from on-premises environments to cloud platforms.
Deloitte has also been expanding its AI capabilities in India. In September 2026, the firm announced the launch of its Open Model Engineering practice in India and other key global markets. The practice is designed to help organisations build, deploy and scale enterprise AI applications using open-source AI frameworks and open models.
For Lad, the new position brings together his long-standing insurance technology experience with Deloitte’s broader AI, engineering and industry-solutions capabilities. His background in architecture, technology modernisation and process transformation is expected to support Deloitte’s work with insurance organisations as they adopt newer technologies and undertake broader digital transformation.
Lad’s appointment also adds insurance-industry technology expertise to Deloitte’s leadership in an area where insurers are increasingly modernising core platforms and exploring AI-led approaches across functions such as claims, underwriting and operations.
With nearly 19 years at PwC behind him, Lad brings substantial experience working with insurance carriers and developing technology solutions for the sector. At Deloitte, his mandate will focus on insurance technology, AI-led transformation and technology strategy within the firm’s AI & Engineering / Industry Solutions practice.
