Manas Sarkar has joined the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT) as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), taking on a technology leadership role at an institution established by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Sarkar announced that he has started his new position as CTO at IDRBT. His new mandate brings together technology, cybersecurity and digital banking, with a focus on contributing to the development of India’s BFSI technology ecosystem.
“I am delighted to share that I have joined as CTO at IDRBT, an institution established by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI),” Sarkar said.
He added, “An exciting mandate at the intersection of Technology, Cybersecurity & Digital Banking — looking forward to contributing to the future of India’s BFSI technology ecosystem.”
In his new role, Sarkar will work at the intersection of technology, cybersecurity and digital banking as IDRBT continues its work in areas supporting technology adoption across the banking and financial services sector.
IDRBT was established by the Reserve Bank of India in March 1996 as an institute focused on the application of technology in banking and financial services. The institute works across several technology areas relevant to the BFSI sector, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, cybersecurity and data privacy, emerging networks and cloud computing, open and digital banking, quantum computing, distributed ledger technologies and digital payments.
The institute also operates research centres and laboratories focused on emerging technologies for the Indian banking and financial sector. Its work includes research, development, training and consultancy related to banking technology.
Sarkar’s appointment comes as technology and cybersecurity remain central to the evolution of digital banking and financial services. His mandate at IDRBT will place him within an institution that works closely with technology and banking ecosystems on emerging technology requirements.
With his appointment as Chief Technology Officer, Manas Sarkar joins IDRBT in a role focused on technology, cybersecurity and digital banking, contributing to the institute’s broader work in advancing technology capabilities for India’s BFSI ecosystem.
