Space Robotics Startup Cosmochute Raises $1.5 Million in Pre-Seed Funding

Indian space robotics startup Cosmochute has raised $1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Accel and Prosus Ventures through the Atoms X programme. IIMA Ventures’ Deep-tech and Aerospace Acceleration Fund, Operators Studio and Chinmayi Muthyala also participated in the round.

Founded in 2026 by Janhavi Gore, Amit Chowdhary and Dhruv Alok Sangal, Cosmochute is developing space robotics infrastructure for the emerging lunar economy. The company plans to use the fresh capital for product development, expanding its engineering team and advancing its commercial roadmap.

Cosmochute is among seven startups selected for the inaugural Atoms X cohort, launched earlier in 2026. Its participation places the company within a programme supporting early-stage businesses developing technology-led products.

The startup’s first programme, called LEAP, is a modular platform designed to support payload transportation and deployment on the Moon. The platform combines a modular rover and trailer with standard payload bays, allowing multiple payloads to be incorporated into a common mission architecture.

Cosmochute aims to address the cost and complexity involved in transporting equipment and deploying payloads on the lunar surface. Space missions often require specialised engineering for individual payloads and mission requirements. By standardising transportation and deployment systems, the company intends to reduce mission-specific engineering and make lunar operations more repeatable.

The platform is being developed to transport different payloads through a shared system rather than requiring a separate design for every mission. This approach is intended to provide a common foundation for future commercial and scientific activities on the Moon.
Cosmochute is also setting up its lunar laboratories at IIMA Ventures’ incubation facility. The work forms part of its broader effort to develop capabilities in lunar mobility and space robotics.

Beyond its initial lunar focus, the company plans to explore potential applications in other in-space and terrestrial settings. Its immediate priorities remain product development, engineering expansion and preparation for commercialisation. The funding will help the startup advance its LEAP platform and establish the technical capabilities needed for its next stage of development.
