Google has announced the elevation of Aditya Swamy to the position of Managing Director – Google Play, marking a pivotal milestone in his distinguished career and leadership journey with the tech giant. In his expanded role, Aditya will oversee Google Play’s operations and strategic growth across India, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, focusing on driving developer success, ecosystem innovation, and enhanced user experience. His leadership comes at a time when Google Play continues to evolve as a key enabler of the global app economy and digital entrepreneurship.
With more than two decades of experience spanning technology, media, e-commerce, and consumer goods, Aditya has been a driving force behind the growth of India’s digital and app ecosystem. During his tenure at Google, he has led major initiatives such as Google for Startups, fostering deeper collaboration with entrepreneurs and digital-first businesses in emerging markets. His work has significantly strengthened Google’s role as a catalyst for innovation and inclusive digital transformation across the region.
Before joining Google, Aditya held leadership roles at some of India’s most prominent organizations. As CEO of MTV at Viacom18 Media Private Limited, he reinvented the channel’s youth engagement strategy and introduced pioneering content formats that resonated with a new generation of audiences. His stint as Senior Director of Marketing at Flipkart saw him play a key role in conceptualizing and executing Big Billion Day campaigns, which went on to redefine India’s e-commerce playbook.
Earlier in his career, Aditya worked with The Coca-Cola Company, where he developed a deep understanding of brand management and consumer marketing, shaping the foundation of his multifaceted leadership style. An alumnus of SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), he continues to champion innovation, creativity, and community-driven growth as the cornerstones of digital progress.
