Aeron Systems Raises $4.7 Million to Scale Navigation and Sensing Technologies

Pune-based Aeron Systems has closed a $4.7 million, approximately ₹45 crore, Pre-Series B funding round jointly led by Riverwalk Holdings and MGF-Kavachh, the MountTech Growth Fund. The deeptech company will use the capital to expand manufacturing, accelerate research and product development, meet growing customer demand and extend its presence in international markets.

Aeron develops navigation, weather-sensing and intelligent monitoring systems for aerospace, defence, renewable-energy and industrial applications. Its portfolio includes inertial navigation systems, inertial measurement units, attitude and heading reference systems, GNSS products, air-data computers, weather stations, flight-test instrumentation, data loggers, industrial gateways and cloud-based monitoring software.

The company has spent 18 years developing and deploying these systems and says it has supplied more than 10,000 inertial systems and over 2,500 weather stations worldwide. Its equipment operates across conditions ranging from high-altitude cold deserts to tropical environments. Customers identified by Aeron include Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, the Defence Research and Development Organisation, the Indian Army and the Indian Navy.

The manufacturing expansion will concentrate particularly on advanced inertial navigation systems. These systems use combinations of accelerometers, gyroscopes and navigation software to calculate position, orientation and velocity, including in operating environments where satellite navigation is unavailable, unreliable or subject to interference. Aeron’s products are used across unmanned platforms, aircraft, military systems, industrial equipment and other applications requiring continuous motion and position data.

Riverwalk Holdings is a Securities and Exchange Board of India-registered Category II alternative investment fund that invests across early and growth stages, including R&D-led manufacturing businesses. Its portfolio has included Elecbits, Mirana, Aerem, Fantail and Sisir Radar.

MGF-Kavachh is also registered as a Category II alternative investment fund and focuses on deep technology, aerospace and national security. The fund is led by founder and managing partner Raj Sethia and has a strategy and oversight board comprising former military leaders, government officials and industry specialists. The participation of both investors gives the round a pronounced advanced-manufacturing and strategic-technology orientation.

Aeron has not disclosed its post-money valuation, the division of the investment between the two lead investors or a timetable for its next financing round. It has also not provided a revenue target attached to the planned manufacturing expansion. The disclosed operating base, however, makes this a scale-up round for an established product company rather than funding for initial technology validation.

The company will now expand production while continuing product development and overseas customer acquisition. That combination places manufacturing capacity, qualification cycles and international sales execution at the centre of its next growth phase.
