AI startup Anthropic has introduced a new directory of tools and services called Connectors, aimed at expanding the capabilities of its Claude AI models. Announced on July 14, the feature allows Claude to integrate seamlessly with both local desktop applications and remote services, turning it into a more dynamic and context-aware AI collaborator.
“Claude can have access to the same tools, data, and context that you do—transforming it from a helpful assistant into an informed AI collaborator,” the company stated in its blog post.
Expanding Claude’s Capabilities
- Remote service connectors are available to users on Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans.
- Local desktop connectors can be accessed by all users, including those on the free tier.
The integrations are built using Anthropic’s open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling Claude to interact directly with the tools you use—whether for writing, designing, development, or project management.
Partner Tools and Real-World Use Cases
Connectors have already been developed by popular platforms like Notion, Canva, Figma, Socket, and Prisma.
Anthropic shared an example to highlight practical usage:
Instead of prompting Claude to “write release notes for our latest features,” users can now connect tools like Linear and ask Claude to “write release notes for our latest sprint from Linear,” allowing Claude to pull actual data and generate publish-ready documents.
Users can browse and enable connectors through the Claude Directory at claude.ai/directory, with a simple ‘Connect’ or ‘Install’ flow depending on the tool type.
Building on Claude 4 Opus Momentum
This update follows the May 2025 launch of Claude 4 Opus, Anthropic’s most advanced AI model known for its reasoning and coding prowess. Alongside it, Claude Sonnet 4 was also introduced, offering enhanced performance in research, software development, and enterprise-grade AI collaboration.
With Connectors, Anthropic is taking another step toward positioning Claude as an intelligent, real-time collaborator capable of interacting with enterprise workflows and user environments more meaningfully.
