CoChat Launches AI Collaboration Platform to Address Rising Shadow AI Risks

CoChat has introduced a new artificial intelligence collaboration platform aimed at tackling the growing challenge of “shadow AI” within enterprises, where employees use AI tools without oversight from IT or security teams. The platform, launched in early April 2026, focuses on improving visibility and governance around the use of AI systems in organizations

Shadow AI has emerged as an extension of the long-standing issue of shadow IT, where individuals adopt tools independently to enhance productivity. However, the risks are amplified in the AI context, as employees increasingly rely on external large language models (LLMs) and autonomous agents that may operate without proper supervision or accuracy guarantees.

CoChat addresses this by offering a unified workspace where employees can access major AI models in a controlled environment, reducing the need to operate across disconnected tools. The platform introduces a governance layer that monitors interactions between LLMs and agentic systems, helping organizations manage potential risks associated with automated decision-making.

A key feature of the platform is its ability to intervene in potentially harmful actions initiated by AI agents. If a system identifies a risky instruction—such as exposing sensitive data or executing unintended operations—it pauses the process and requires user approval before proceeding. This ensures that human oversight remains part of the workflow, even in highly automated environments.

Commenting on the issue, CoChat CEO Marcel Folaron said, “People feel the pain of needing to get the most out of AI, wanting to increase their performance productivity,” adding that employees often turn to automated AI tools without organizational awareness, which “can be very dangerous.”

The platform also promotes collaborative AI usage by enabling teams to work together within shared environments, compare outputs from different models, and identify inconsistencies or hallucinations more effectively. By introducing transparency and collective oversight, CoChat aims to reduce the risks associated with isolated AI usage while improving overall productivity.

As enterprises continue to adopt AI at scale, solutions like CoChat highlight the increasing need for structured governance frameworks to balance innovation with security and control.
