India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs) have rapidly transformed from cost-saving back offices into high-value innovation hubs, with their economic footprint growing from US$19 billion in 2015 to over US$68 billion today. In response to this evolution, Deloitte India has partnered with EmbarkGCC to launch a comprehensive support system aimed at helping global companies establish, operate, and scale their GCCs across India.
This strategic alliance brings together Deloitte’s consulting expertise and EmbarkGCC’s integrated platform to offer end-to-end services, including strategy formulation, setup execution, operational efficiency, and governance frameworks. The initiative is especially geared toward mid-sized and regional firms that are now increasingly joining the GCC landscape.
Romal Shetty, CEO of Deloitte South Asia, emphasized the changing role of GCCs, noting, “We are beginning to see significant shift… towards becoming cognitive command centres.” He also projected a major scale-up in the coming years, with a vision of 5,000 GCCs potentially contributing as much as US$200 billion to the economy within five years.
Deepak Mowdhgalya, Partner at Deloitte India, pointed out that the collaboration addresses a critical need in the market. “The partnership solves a critical gap in converting intent into impact with confidence and long-term scalability,” he said.
Describing the partnership as a game-changer, Aravind Maiya, Co-founder and CEO of Embark, stated it is a “first-of-its-kind” solution that allows international businesses to “seamlessly enter and scale in the Indian market.”
With India emerging as a major player in the global digital economy, this partnership is expected to accelerate the growth of the GCC ecosystem, generate employment, and foster innovation-led services across sectors. By simplifying complexity and improving execution certainty, the Deloitte–Embark alliance could significantly boost India’s positioning as the global hub for advanced enterprise capabilities.
