Elon Musk has announced that xAI’s latest chatbot, Grok 3, is nearing completion and is expected to launch within one to two weeks. Speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Musk asserted that Grok 3 surpasses all existing AI chatbots in reasoning capabilities. He emphasized that Grok 3’s performance is “significantly better than anything else.”
Musk also highlighted that Grok 3 will have real-time access to information through the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, which he owns. This integration provides Grok 3 with a substantial advantage over other models. xAI, established by Musk in July 2023, collaborates closely with X and Musk’s other ventures, including Tesla.
In addition to Grok 3, xAI is developing Grok 3 Mini, a more compact version designed to balance speed and response quality. Musk noted that Grok 3 Mini is “ideal for mobile devices and applications where quick responses are crucial.”
Musk has been a vocal critic of major tech companies’ AI initiatives, accusing them of censorship. He founded xAI to create a “maximum truth-seeking AI” aimed at understanding the universe’s nature, positioning it as a competitor to AI models from companies like Google and Microsoft.
xAI has previously made its AI models open-source, allowing public access to the underlying code. This approach aligns xAI with companies such as Meta and France’s Mistral, which have also open-sourced their AI models.
The development of Grok 3 and Grok 3 Mini signifies xAI’s commitment to advancing AI technology and providing users with powerful tools for various applications.
