Elon Musk’s X Reportedly Hit by Massive Data Breach Affecting 200 Million Accounts

A cybersecurity firm, SafetyDetectives, has reported a significant data breach involving Elon Musk-owned social media platform X, potentially compromising around 200 million user accounts.

The exposed data was discovered in a publicly accessible forum that shares database leaks, cracks, and other cyber-related content. According to the forum post, a massive leak of over 400 GB containing data from more than 2.8 billion X users occurred in January 2025.

The individual behind the post stated that they chose to share the data after seeing no indication that X or its users were aware of what they describe as one of the largest breaches in social media history. They also claimed to have attempted multiple times to contact X regarding the issue but received no response.
