Ganesh Vijaypurkar Appointed Head of ANZ Group Capability Centre Bengaluru and Managing Director

India — ANZ has appointed Ganesh Vijaypurkar as Head of the ANZ Group Capability Centre (GCC) Bengaluru and Managing Director, strengthening the bank’s leadership team as it advances its long-term growth and transformation strategy aligned with its 2030 ambitions.

In his new role, Vijaypurkar will lead ANZ’s Bengaluru-based GCC operations, focusing on strengthening delivery capabilities, driving operational excellence, supporting innovation initiatives, and scaling the centre’s strategic contribution to ANZ’s global banking operations.

Vijaypurkar brings extensive experience in global banking, capability centre leadership, operational transformation, and large-scale team management. Prior to joining ANZ, he spent nearly 29 years at Citi, where he played a key role in establishing and scaling global capability centres while leading multiple banking and operational initiatives.

Commenting on his appointment, Vijaypurkar said, “What’s clear to me is that we have a highly talented GCC team at ANZ, with strong institutional knowledge and great ideas on how we can continue to improve.” He added that he has “tremendous confidence in what we can achieve together as one team.”

Industry experts note that global capability centres are becoming increasingly important for multinational financial institutions as banks continue investing in digital transformation, technology modernization, operational resilience, AI-led innovation, and customer experience enhancement.

Vijaypurkar’s appointment comes at a time when financial services organizations are expanding their India-based GCC operations to support global technology delivery, enterprise operations, risk management, data analytics, cybersecurity, and digital banking initiatives.
