Geely Auto has introduced its new AI-powered iHEV hybrid system, marking a major advancement in intelligent vehicle technology as the company looks to strengthen its position in the global hybrid market. The system integrates artificial intelligence into the powertrain, enabling real-time optimization of energy usage and driving performance.
The iHEV system is built on Geely’s All-Domain AI 2.0 architecture and incorporates a high-efficiency engine, electric drive, and advanced battery system. A key highlight is its ability to dynamically adjust hybrid power strategies based on environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and altitude, improving overall energy efficiency by more than 10%.
In terms of performance, the system delivers industry-leading results, with the engine achieving a thermal efficiency of 48.41%, one of the highest among mass-produced engines globally. Real-world testing shows that the Emgrand iHEV model records fuel consumption as low as 2.22 liters per 100 kilometers, while the Xingrui iHEV achieves 2.58 liters per 100 kilometers, demonstrating significant gains in fuel economy.
The platform also features enhanced onboard computing capabilities, enabling intelligent driving functions and smarter energy management. This allows the vehicle to operate more efficiently by keeping the engine within optimal performance zones while leveraging electric power where possible, reflecting a shift toward more intelligent and adaptive hybrid systems.
Geely plans to roll out the iHEV system across multiple models, including the Emgrand, Preface, Monjaro, and Starray, as it aims to challenge established players in the hybrid segment. The launch signals a broader industry trend where automakers are integrating AI into core vehicle systems, transforming hybrids into smarter, more efficient, and highly adaptive mobility solutions.
