Google has announced the selection of 20 artificial intelligence (AI) startups from India for its “Google for Startups Accelerator: AI First” initiative. The companies, chosen from a pool of more than 1,600 applicants, represent diverse sectors including healthcare, finance, and climate technology. Each startup in the cohort will gain access to Google’s cutting-edge AI tools, Google Cloud infrastructure, and tailored mentorship designed to accelerate product innovation and overall business growth.
The program highlights Google’s efforts to strengthen India’s AI startup ecosystem, which has been witnessing rapid expansion. By offering direct support, the tech giant aims to equip early-stage and scaling ventures with the resources needed to bring transformative solutions to market.
According to Google, this year’s selected startups represent the evolving depth of India’s AI landscape. “About 45% of the startups are working on agentic AI, 30% on multimodal AI, while the rest are focused on foundational models and responsible AI,” the company stated. This distribution reflects a balanced mix of companies driving next-generation applications, ranging from autonomous AI agents to systems capable of interpreting multiple data types such as text, audio, and visuals.
The startups chosen under the accelerator are building solutions to address large-scale, structural challenges within the Indian and global context. These include improving access to healthcare, enhancing financial inclusion, advancing climate resilience, and supporting responsible AI deployment. By participating in the program, the startups are expected to refine their business models, strengthen technical expertise, and accelerate go-to-market strategies.
The initiative also underscores Google’s long-term vision for India’s innovation economy. With the country emerging as a critical hub for AI research and development, the accelerator program signals a commitment to nurturing local talent and helping entrepreneurs scale impactful technologies.
By focusing on sectors with real-world challenges and opportunities, the “Google for Startups Accelerator: AI First” initiative seeks to amplify the role of AI in solving problems that matter most—while positioning Indian startups as global leaders in next-gen innovation.
