Japnit Kaur joins IBM as Head of Marketing for India and South Asia

The seasoned enterprise technology marketer takes over the regional mandate previously led by Tuhina Pandey, following Pandey’s elevation to Vice President of Marketing for IBM Asia Pacific and relocation to Singapore.

IBM has appointed Japnit Kaur as Head of Marketing for India and South Asia, strengthening its regional leadership team as the technology major sharpens its focus on AI, hybrid cloud and consulting-led transformation.

Based in Bengaluru, Kaur will lead marketing across IBM Consulting and IBM Technology in India and South Asia. Her responsibilities will span the development and execution of integrated marketing programmes designed to strengthen IBM’s brand, deepen client engagement and support business growth across the region.

Kaur takes over the India and South Asia marketing mandate previously held by Tuhina Pandey. The transition follows Pandey’s elevation to Vice President of Marketing for IBM Asia Pacific and her move to Singapore. In her expanded regional role, Pandey will work with IBM’s business leaders, partners and marketing teams to drive client-focused initiatives across the diverse Asia-Pacific market.

Kaur brings extensive experience in business-to-business technology marketing, having worked with leading organisations including Amazon Web Services, VMware and Wipro. Before joining IBM, she spent nearly five years at AWS, most recently serving as Enterprise Marketing Leader. In that position, she worked on marketing programmes for enterprise customers, building experience across account-based marketing, industry engagement, executive outreach, demand generation and sales-aligned growth.

Earlier at AWS, Kaur served as Head of SMB Marketing, developing initiatives aimed at engaging small and medium-sized businesses during a period of accelerated cloud adoption.

Prior to AWS, she spent more than seven years with VMware. Her responsibilities included commercial sales field marketing, alliances, solution marketing and partner marketing, experience that gave her a broad view of how enterprise technology companies can build demand through both direct customer engagement and partner ecosystems.

Kaur also worked for nearly five years at Wipro as Sales and Marketing Manager. Her career journey, spanning marketing, sales alignment and business analysis, has equipped her with an understanding of both technology buying cycles and the commercial priorities shaping enterprise decision-making.

At IBM, this experience will be particularly relevant as enterprises move from experimentation with emerging technologies to deploying AI and hybrid cloud solutions at scale. Marketing leaders in this environment are increasingly expected to go beyond brand visibility and connect technology propositions with measurable business outcomes.

Kaur’s appointment brings a practitioner with deep experience in enterprise, commercial and partner-led marketing into this strategically important mandate. Her cross-functional background could help IBM create sharper industry narratives, engage senior decision-makers and translate complex technology capabilities into relevant business conversations.

The leadership transition also signals continuity in IBM’s regional marketing structure: while Pandey assumes a broader Asia-Pacific remit, Kaur will provide dedicated leadership for India and South Asia, markets that continue to play a significant role in enterprise technology adoption, innovation and digital transformation.
