JSW MG Motor India has appointed Parth Jindal as Chairman of the company with immediate effect, marking a significant leadership development for the automaker as it focuses on expanding its presence in India, strengthening localisation and advancing its product strategy. The appointment was approved by the Board of Directors of JSW MG Motor India Private Limited on August 31, 2026.
Jindal has been associated with JSW MG Motor India since the formation of its joint venture between JSW Group and SAIC Motor. Before taking over as Chairman, he served on the company’s Board and was closely involved in key areas including product strategy, manufacturing expansion and the company’s localisation programme.
His appointment places an existing member of the company’s leadership structure at the helm as JSW MG Motor India works to deepen its operations and strengthen its position in India’s competitive passenger vehicle market.
JSW MG Motor India is a joint venture between JSW Group and SAIC Motor, combining JSW Group’s understanding of the Indian market with SAIC Motor’s automotive technology and global capabilities. Jindal has been involved with the venture since its formation and has therefore had direct exposure to the company’s development and strategic direction.
As Chairman, Jindal will be positioned to provide strategic leadership as the company continues to work on its product portfolio, manufacturing capabilities and localisation efforts. His previous involvement in these areas gives him familiarity with the company’s ongoing priorities and expansion plans.
Jindal currently holds several leadership positions across the JSW Group. He serves as Managing Director of JSW Cement and JSW Paints, is Chairman of JSW Dulux Limited, and sits on the Board of JSW Energy. He is also the founder of JSW Sports and serves as Chairman and co-owner of the Delhi Capitals.
His broader responsibilities across the JSW Group provide him with experience spanning manufacturing, consumer-facing businesses, energy and sports, while his association with JSW MG Motor India has given him direct exposure to the automotive sector and the company’s joint-venture operations.
The leadership change comes as JSW MG Motor India continues to place emphasis on new-energy vehicles, localisation and manufacturing expansion. The company has been working to increase the use of locally sourced components and develop products suited to the Indian market.
Jindal’s previous involvement in the company’s product and manufacturing strategy is therefore particularly relevant to its next phase. His appointment is expected to provide continuity in the strategic direction of the joint venture while placing greater emphasis on scaling the business in India.
The company is also operating in a rapidly changing Indian automotive market, where electric vehicles, hybrid technologies, localisation and manufacturing scale are becoming increasingly important. JSW MG Motor India’s strategy has included expanding its new-energy vehicle portfolio while building greater domestic capabilities.
The appointment also comes as the company continues to work towards strengthening its manufacturing and localisation capabilities. The joint venture has previously outlined ambitions around increasing domestic production and developing its India-focused product and technology ecosystem.
With Jindal taking over as Chairman, JSW MG Motor India will continue to focus on its growth strategy while leveraging the combined strengths of JSW Group and SAIC Motor.
The appointment is effective immediately, and Jindal’s existing association with the company is expected to provide continuity as JSW MG Motor India enters its next stage of development.
