Karnataka to Form AI Working Groups with Anthropic for Governance and Education

Bengaluru, The Karnataka government will constitute two dedicated working groups with artificial intelligence company Anthropic to identify priority AI applications across governance, education and innovation.

The decision followed Karnataka Home, Electronics, Information Technology and Biotechnology Minister Priyank M Kharge’s visit to Anthropic’s Bengaluru office. The proposed groups will work with the state’s Centre for e-Governance and Home Department to evaluate practical use cases and take the discussions forward.

The meeting focused on AI-enabled citizen services, multilingual digital experiences and the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence. The two sides also explored how existing government datasets could be used to improve public-service delivery and make digital government platforms more accessible.

“Following the discussions, we agreed to constitute two dedicated working groups with the Centre for e-Governance and the Home Department to identify priority use cases and take these ideas forward,” Kharge said.

Karnataka and Anthropic also discussed expanding AI skills across the state through certifications based on Claude, Anthropic’s family of AI models. The proposed certification initiatives would be designed for students, working professionals and enterprises, supporting the development of practical AI capabilities.

The discussions included potential support for Karnataka’s startups and software developers seeking to build products and services using Anthropic’s AI tools. Both sides also explored the company’s AI for Science and Claude for Education programmes as possible areas of collaboration in scientific research, learning and workforce development.

The initiative forms part of Karnataka’s broader effort to build a responsible and globally competitive artificial intelligence ecosystem. The state is seeking stronger collaboration between the government, technology companies, academic institutions, startups and developers to support AI adoption and employment generation.

Anthropic is an AI safety and research company that develops the Claude family of artificial intelligence models. Its offerings support applications including software development, enterprise automation, research, analysis and content generation. The company has expanded its presence in India through its Bengaluru office and is exploring partnerships across skilling, public services and responsible AI deployment.
