Intel Corporation has appointed Kevin O’Buckley as the Senior Vice President and general manager of Foundry Services, the division responsible for customer service and ecosystem operations within Intel Foundry. O’Buckley assumes his new role today and joins Intel’s executive leadership team, reporting directly to CEO Pat Gelsinger. He takes over from Stuart Pann, who will retire from Intel after 35 years of service at the end of May but will remain an advisor to ensure a smooth transition.
Gelsinger expressed confidence in O’Buckley’s capabilities, citing his extensive experience across the semiconductor industry, including leadership roles in both foundry and fabless companies. O’Buckley’s appointment comes as Intel continues to forge ahead with its vision of establishing the world’s first systems foundry for the AI era. His role will be pivotal in helping customers realize their objectives by leveraging Intel Foundry’s unique capabilities in delivering process and packaging technology through a resilient and sustainable supply chain.
O’Buckley will lead the expansion of Intel’s foundry business and further develop its ecosystem of intellectual property and electronic design automation partners. Working closely with other senior leaders at Intel Foundry, he will contribute to the company’s overarching goal of creating the premier system foundry for the AI era.
The Intel Foundry business encompasses technology development, global manufacturing, and foundry customer service and ecosystem operations, offering fabless customers all the essential components necessary for designing and manufacturing chips for the AI-driven computing era.
With over 25 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, O’Buckley brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. He most recently served as senior vice president of hardware engineering for the Custom, Compute, and Storage Group at Marvell Technologies. Prior to that, he held leadership positions at Avera Semiconductor, Global Foundries, and IBM, where he spent more than 17 years. O’Buckley holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Alfred University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Vermont.
Pann, who retires from Intel after a distinguished 35-year career, leaves behind a legacy of significant achievements, including his instrumental role in establishing Intel Foundry under the company’s new operating model. Prior to his retirement, Pann served as Senior Vice President, Chief Business Transformation Officer, and general manager of Intel’s Corporate Planning Group.
