
LG Electronics is expanding its footprint in the fast-growing artificial intelligence infrastructure sector by introducing advanced cooling technologies for AI data centers. The company recently showcased its latest innovations at Data Center World 2026, signaling a strategic move to position itself as a key player in next-generation data center solutions.
At the event, LG unveiled a comprehensive portfolio of cooling systems designed to address the increasing thermal demands of AI workloads. These include direct-to-chip liquid cooling technologies that efficiently manage heat generated by high-performance processors. The solutions are engineered to handle high thermal density environments, ensuring stable operations while improving overall energy efficiency.
The company also highlighted its immersion cooling capabilities, developed through collaborations with global partners. This method involves submerging IT equipment in specialized cooling fluids, enabling more effective heat dissipation compared to traditional air-based systems. Such innovations are aimed at meeting the needs of modern AI data centers, where rising computational power requirements are placing significant pressure on cooling infrastructure.
Beyond hardware, LG is integrating software-driven solutions to enhance operational efficiency. Its Data Center Cooling Management system enables real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and data-driven optimization of cooling systems. Additionally, the company introduced an AI-based workload orchestration platform that can dynamically allocate power and resources, potentially increasing utilization by up to 25 percent.
LG is also focusing on improving energy efficiency at the infrastructure level through its direct current grid solution. By reducing the number of power conversion stages typically required in data centers, the system lowers energy loss from around 25 percent to approximately 15 percent, with potential reductions to as low as 10 percent when combined with renewable energy sources. This approach is expected to significantly reduce operating costs while supporting sustainability goals.
The expansion into AI data center cooling reflects LG’s broader strategy to strengthen its business-to-business portfolio and capitalize on the global surge in AI adoption. As demand for high-performance computing continues to grow, the company aims to deliver integrated solutions that combine cooling, power management, and intelligent software to enhance performance and efficiency across data center operations.
