LG expands Nvidia partnership into physical AI to advance robotics and smart infrastructure

South Korea’s LG Electronics has announced an expansion of its collaboration with Nvidia into the emerging field of physical artificial intelligence, signaling a strategic shift toward real-world AI applications. The development was highlighted during LG’s first-quarter 2026 earnings call, where the company outlined its plans to deepen cooperation beyond existing AI and computing initiatives.

The expanded partnership focuses on applying AI technologies to physical environments such as robotics, smart factories, and infrastructure systems. Physical AI refers to systems that can perceive, reason, and act in real-world settings, moving beyond traditional software-based AI into machines and environments that interact directly with the physical world.

LG has already been working with Nvidia’s industrial AI platforms, including simulation tools like Omniverse, to build digital twin systems and real-time manufacturing solutions. These technologies allow companies to simulate and optimize production processes before deploying them in real-world environments, improving efficiency and reducing operational risks.

The deeper collaboration is expected to accelerate LG’s efforts in robotics and intelligent systems, including the development of next-generation autonomous machines and AI-powered devices. Nvidia’s full-stack AI ecosystem, including its robotics frameworks and computing platforms, provides the foundation for building systems that can learn from data and adapt to complex physical scenarios.

This move reflects a broader industry trend where companies are shifting focus from purely digital AI applications to integrated physical AI systems. By strengthening its partnership with Nvidia, LG is positioning itself to play a key role in the next phase of AI evolution, where intelligent machines and infrastructure become central to industries such as manufacturing, mobility, and smart environments.
