Matthew Hardman Appointed Senior Director, Global Go-To-Market Strategy & Execution at Hitachi Vantara

Hitachi Vantara has appointed Matthew Hardman as Senior Director, Global Go-To-Market Strategy & Execution, marking a new leadership chapter for the technology executive following his tenure as Chief Technology Officer for Asia Pacific. In his new role, Hardman will take on a broader global mandate focused on go-to-market strategy and execution, building on his experience across technology leadership, technical sales, customer engagement, and partner ecosystems.

Hardman announced the move on LinkedIn, stating that he has started the new position at Hitachi Vantara. In his announcement, he thanked APAC leadership, technical sales leaders, and colleagues for their support during his time in the region. He also acknowledged Adrian Johnson for giving him the opportunity to help shape a new future for the company’s field organisations.

The new position places Hardman within Hitachi Vantara’s broader commercial and go-to-market organisation. His mandate is expected to connect the company’s technology capabilities more closely with customer requirements and commercial execution, while supporting the development of consistent go-to-market strategies across markets.

Prior to taking up the global role, Hardman served as Chief Technology Officer, Asia Pacific at Hitachi Vantara. In that capacity, he worked with customers and partners across APAC on complex technology challenges involving AI, data infrastructure, resilience, and digital transformation. Hitachi Vantara’s regional team has previously described his responsibilities as spanning large-scale AI and data architecture, resilience strategies, technical sales leadership, and enabling technical teams across the region.

Hardman has also been a visible technology voice for Hitachi Vantara on the growing challenges surrounding enterprise AI adoption. In an April 2026 discussion with iTnews Asia, he highlighted the gap between rising AI interest and the readiness of enterprise data foundations, legacy infrastructure, and governance. He argued that organisations need stronger underlying data and infrastructure capabilities to move AI initiatives from experimentation toward measurable business outcomes.

His APAC tenure also involved extensive engagement with the company’s partner and technical-sales ecosystem. His LinkedIn activity shows participation in Hitachi Vantara’s India and SAARC Partner Summit, as well as customer and partner engagements across markets including India, Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore. These engagements have centred on data, AI, cyber resilience, hybrid-cloud infrastructure, and technology-led business transformation.

Hardman brings experience across technology strategy, solution selling, technical sales, partner strategy, and enterprise technology. Public professional information also identifies earlier leadership experience at Microsoft and VMware, adding to his background across cloud, data infrastructure, partner ecosystems, and enterprise technology.

The move to the global go-to-market strategy and execution role comes as enterprises increasingly look beyond individual technology products and seek integrated solutions that can translate AI, data, and infrastructure investments into measurable business outcomes. For Hitachi Vantara, Hardman’s combination of technical leadership and customer-facing experience positions him to contribute to this transition at a global level.

With his new mandate, Hardman will shift from leading technology strategy and technical sales engagement across APAC to taking on a broader role focused on global go-to-market strategy and execution. His appointment strengthens Hitachi Vantara’s leadership focus on connecting technology, sales execution, customer outcomes, and market opportunities across its global business.
