Pinkustar Borah has been elevated to the position of Chief Digital & Technology Officer at Unilever International, marking his first professional role outside India after spending 19 years with Hindustan Unilever Limited. Based in Singapore, Borah will lead the digital and technology agenda for Unilever International, the company’s global business serving markets beyond its core operating countries. His responsibilities are expected to include aligning technology strategy with business priorities, accelerating digital transformation and building technology capabilities to support the organisation’s international operations.
Announcing the development, Borah reflected on his long association with the organisation and the opportunities it has provided for professional growth across different functions. He said his journey at Hindustan Unilever had taken him “from a factory IT job to heading multiple IT functions.” The new position will expose him to additional geographies, business environments and organisational cultures while allowing him to continue working within the Unilever group.
Before this elevation, Borah served as Chief Digital and Information Officer – Personal Care and Customer Experience at Hindustan Unilever. In that position, he led technology initiatives supporting the company’s personal-care business and customer-experience transformation. His work covered digital capabilities serving multiple stakeholder groups, including employees, distributors, field-sales teams and retail partners. He also led the technology workstream for Project Ivory, the separation of HUL’s ice-cream business into Kwality Wall’s India Limited, involving the carve-out of its SAP landscape and more than 150 global and local applications.
Borah began his career with Hindustan Unilever in 2007 as an IT Executive at a factory in Assam. He subsequently moved to Bengaluru in 2013, serving as an IT Business Partner and supporting Unilever Sri Lanka. Throughout his tenure, he has held roles spanning supply chain, human resources and employee experience, legal, sales, customer experience and business technology. This broad functional exposure has provided him with experience in enterprise systems, technology-enabled operations and large-scale business transformation.
