Rajeesh Rajagopalan has been appointed as National Head – Liabilities & Digital Banking at IndBank Global Support Services Limited (IGSSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Indian Bank. In his new role, he will lead the organisation’s digital banking and liabilities growth strategy, with a focus on expanding deposits and building technology-led customer acquisition and engagement.
Rajagopalan’s mandate will cover key areas including CASA and deposit growth, digital customer acquisition, AI-led customer journeys, digital banking platforms, embedded finance, fintech partnerships and analytics. He will also focus on developing a scalable, technology-enabled banking ecosystem that can support the organisation’s growth objectives.
A key part of his responsibilities will be to strengthen the connection between digital technology and banking business growth. This includes using data and analytics to improve customer engagement, deploying AI-led journeys, expanding digital platforms and exploring partnerships with fintech companies to create more accessible and technology-driven banking experiences.
Rajagopalan joins IGSSL with extensive experience across India’s banking sector. Before taking up his new position, he held leadership roles at Karur Vysya Bank, IndusInd Bank and Axis Bank, where he developed expertise across retail liabilities, sales channels, corporate acquisition, branch banking, relationship management and business development.
His professional journey also includes experience with Centurion Bank Ltd, IDBI Bank and HDFC Bank, giving him exposure to different banking models and customer segments. Across these institutions, he has worked across functions connected with business acquisition, liabilities, customer relationships and banking-channel development.
His experience in retail liabilities and deposit mobilisation will be particularly relevant to his new mandate. CASA and deposit growth remain important components of a bank’s retail franchise, while digital acquisition and engagement are increasingly becoming central to how banks build and retain customer relationships.
The appointment also reflects the growing convergence of banking, technology, artificial intelligence and fintech partnerships. Financial institutions are increasingly investing in digital platforms and data-driven customer journeys to improve acquisition, personalisation and operational scalability. Rajagopalan’s new role brings these priorities together with the organisation’s liabilities growth agenda.
At IGSSL, Rajagopalan will therefore have a broad mandate spanning both business growth and digital transformation. His responsibilities across liabilities, digital banking, AI-led journeys, embedded finance, analytics and fintech partnerships position the role at the intersection of traditional banking and emerging financial technology.
With experience across Karur Vysya Bank, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, Centurion Bank, IDBI Bank and HDFC Bank, Rajagopalan brings a cross-institutional understanding of India’s banking landscape to his new assignment. His appointment is expected to support IGSSL’s efforts to strengthen its digital capabilities while accelerating liabilities and customer growth through technology-led initiatives.
