SaaS Firm RevenueCat Offers ₹55 Lakh Contract to Hire an AI Agent for Developer Advocacy Role

A U.S.-based SaaS company, RevenueCat, has announced an unusual hiring initiative by offering a contract worth around ₹55 lakh to an AI agent designed to perform tasks typically handled by human professionals. The move comes amid growing discussions about the impact of artificial intelligence on jobs and technology businesses, particularly after AI tools such as Claude triggered concerns about the future of the SaaS sector and contributed to volatility in technology stocks, including Indian IT giants like Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services.

RevenueCat has introduced the role of “Agentic AI Developer Advocate,” which will be performed by an AI system rather than a human employee. The company is offering compensation of $10,000 per month for six months, amounting to a total contract value of approximately $60,000, or about ₹55 lakh. The AI agent will be responsible for generating technical content, conducting growth experiments, and providing feedback on the company’s products.

The role is aimed at engaging with a growing community of developers who are building applications using automated systems and AI-powered tools. According to the company, the agent will autonomously produce technical materials such as documentation, case studies, and tutorials. It will also run weekly marketing experiments, interact with the developer community, publish insights, and share product improvement suggestions based on its analysis.

Although the job is designed for an AI system, the agent must be created and managed by a human operator. The individual who designs and deploys the AI agent will effectively receive the compensation offered by RevenueCat. Developers can build such agents using tools like OpenClaw or similar platforms.

The hiring process will still involve a human evaluation stage. After completing the technical screening process, the human operator responsible for the AI system will participate in a live interview with one of the company’s founders before the final selection is made.

The contract also includes a dedicated budget for computing resources and API usage, as well as direct access to RevenueCat’s engineering and product teams. However, the company clarified that the role does not include equity or additional financial incentives beyond the fixed compensation.

RevenueCat emphasized that the AI-focused position is not intended to replace human employees. The company said it is continuing to recruit people for several roles, including iOS and Android Developer Advocates and other positions. The AI agent role will exist alongside human team members rather than substituting them.

Founded as a platform that helps developers manage in-app subscriptions and payments, RevenueCat has become widely used in the mobile app ecosystem. The company raised $50 million in a Series C funding round in May 2025 and is currently integrated into more than 40% of newly launched subscription-based apps. Its platform processes over $10 billion in annual purchase transactions.
