Satya Nadella Tops the Inaugural HSBC Hurun Global Indians List 2024

Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, has secured the leading position in the first-ever HSBC Hurun Global Indians List 2024. This groundbreaking list highlights 226 Indian-origin leaders who head some of the world’s most valuable companies, collectively representing a staggering combined business value of $10 trillion. Nadella’s leadership and influence have earned him the top spot, reinforcing his status as one of the most impactful figures among global Indian leaders.

Following closely, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and YouTube CEO Neal Mohan have been ranked second and third, respectively, in this prestigious list. These rankings were determined through an extensive survey conducted with 400 respondents, which included prominent wealth creators featured in previous Hurun reports. The survey results underscore the significant influence of these leaders on the global stage, with Nadella and Pichai being recognized as the most influential global Indians by more than half of the participants.

The HSBC Hurun Global Indians List 2024 utilized market capitalization figures for publicly traded companies and valuations for private firms to compile the rankings. Data was collected up to November 29, 2024, offering a comprehensive overview of Indian-origin leaders making a remarkable impact across various industries. This recognition not only celebrates their individual achievements but also highlights the growing prominence of Indian-origin professionals in the global corporate landscape.

Geographically, the list reveals that a significant majority—79%—of the Indian-origin leaders are based in the United States, underscoring the country’s role as a hub for Indian talent. The United Kingdom follows with 5%, and the United Arab Emirates accounts for 4%. Among cities, San Francisco emerges as a preferred location, hosting 37 of these influential leaders, followed by New York and Palo Alto, California. These cities continue to serve as key centers for innovation and leadership, attracting top talent from around the world.

This inaugural list serves as a testament to the growing influence of Indian-origin professionals who are steering some of the world’s most valuable organizations. The combined value of the companies they lead not only reflects their strategic vision and leadership capabilities but also underscores the role of Indian talent in shaping the global economy.
