Spotify Expands Beyond Music Streaming With AI Tools, Creator Memberships and Premium Fan Features

Audio streaming platform Spotify has unveiled a series of AI-powered features, creator-focused tools, and premium fan experiences as part of its long-term strategy to move beyond traditional music streaming. The announcements were made during the company’s 2026 Investor Day held on May 21 in New York.

The company revealed that it is strengthening its focus on personalized and interactive audio experiences through artificial intelligence. Among the newly introduced features is “Personal Podcasts,” an AI-based tool that allows users to generate customized podcasts using prompts. Spotify is also preparing to launch “Studio by Spotify Labs,” a desktop application that will help Premium users create private and personalized audio experiences, including daily briefings and curated content based on individual listening preferences

Spotify also announced a partnership with Universal Music Group that will allow Premium subscribers to create AI-generated covers and remixes using licensed music from participating artists. The feature is expected to launch as a paid add-on and is aimed at creating an additional revenue stream for artists and songwriters while expanding user engagement on the platform.

In another major update, Spotify introduced “Reserved,” a premium feature designed for dedicated music fans. The feature will allow selected Premium subscribers to access concert tickets before they are released to the general public. Spotify stated that eligible users will be identified based on their engagement activity, including streams and shares, with the company initially launching the service in the United States through a partnership with Live Nation.

The platform is also expanding support for creators through a new “Memberships” toolset that will allow eligible podcasters and creators to offer paid subscriptions directly to listeners on Spotify. In addition, the company highlighted improvements to podcast experiences, including interactive features such as real-time questions, transcripts, and automatic chapter generation.

Spotify executives said the company’s future strategy is centered on AI-driven personalization powered by its proprietary “Large Taste Model,” which processes trillions of user behavior signals to improve recommendations and interactive experiences across music, podcasts, and audiobooks.

The company also reaffirmed its long-term growth targets, projecting mid-teen annual revenue growth through 2030 while continuing to expand premium offerings and user engagement beyond music streaming.
