
India — LIC Mutual Fund has appointed Sudhanshu Asthana as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) – Equity, strengthening the company’s investment leadership as it continues expanding its equity investment and asset management capabilities.
In his new role, Asthana will oversee LIC Mutual Fund’s equity investment strategy, portfolio management, research-driven investment decisions, and overall equity fund performance.
Asthana brings extensive experience across equity investments, portfolio management, research, business leadership, and asset management accumulated over a long career in the financial services and mutual fund industry.
Prior to joining LIC Mutual Fund in this leadership role, he served as Chief Business Officer & Fund Manager at Electrum Portfolio Managers and was also associated with Trivarga Business Consultancy LLP as Designated Partner.
Over the course of his career, he has held senior investment leadership roles at UTI Mutual Fund, Tamohara Investment Managers, Axis Mutual Fund, Barclays Wealth Management, SBI Mutual Fund, and Quantum Mutual Fund. His experience spans fund management, equity research, PMS management, investment strategy, and business leadership across diverse market cycles and investment platforms.
Industry experts note that leadership strengthening within mutual funds and asset management companies is becoming increasingly important as India witnesses rising retail investor participation, growing SIP inflows, expanding equity markets, and increasing demand for professionally managed investment products.
