Techno Digital, the digital infrastructure subsidiary of Techno Electric and Engineering, has launched a state-of-the-art 36MW AI-ready data centre in Chennai’s SIPCOT IT Park, reinforcing the city’s status as a rising hub for hyperscale digital infrastructure. The project, built with a $175 million investment as part of the company’s $1 billion India commitment, adds significant capacity to the country’s rapidly expanding data centre landscape.
Spread across two lakh square feet, the facility is equipped with 2,400 high-density racks and is certified for NVIDIA’s GB200 series, placing it at the forefront of AI and enterprise computing needs. Designed to support advanced workloads, the centre positions Techno Digital as a major player in powering India’s digital economy.

The launch underscores Chennai’s growing importance as India’s second-largest data centre hub after Mumbai. The city is already home to major players including Sify Technologies, NTT DATA, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, Digital Connexion, Adani Group, CtrlS Datacenters, and Nxtra by Airtel, creating a competitive ecosystem for hyperscale and enterprise hosting.
India’s overall data centre capacity now stands at 1.2 GW, with global investments surging as demand for AI-ready infrastructure accelerates. The expansion is also bolstered by new projects such as Google’s planned $6 billion data centre in Visakhapatnam, further elevating the country’s standing in the global digital infrastructure market.
