Telangana to Break Ground on ₹60,000 Crore Amazon Data Centre at Bharat Future City

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is set to lay the foundation stone for Amazon’s new hyperscale data centre at Bharat Future City, marking the formal start of one of the largest technology infrastructure investments announced for the state. The project forms part of Amazon’s proposed investment of ₹60,000 crore in Telangana over the coming years and is expected to strengthen the state’s position as a major destination for digital infrastructure and cloud computing.

The investment traces its origins to discussions held between the Telangana government and Amazon representatives during the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos in January 2025. Following those discussions, Amazon made an in-principle commitment to invest ₹60,000 crore in the state. Later, during the Telangana Rising Global Summit held in December 2025, both sides signed a framework agreement to move the project forward.

To facilitate the project, the state government allocated 202 acres of land in Bharat Future City and an additional 98 acres at Chandanvelly for Amazon’s planned data centre expansion. Telangana has also extended incentives and concessions worth ₹125 crore to support the investment. Officials expect the development to contribute to economic activity in the Peri-Urban Region (PURE) while reinforcing Hyderabad’s growing status as a technology and digital infrastructure hub.

Construction of the project will be executed in phases. The first phase is scheduled for completion within 24 months, while the remaining expansion is planned over the next decade. Once fully developed, the cumulative investment in Amazon’s data centre operations in Telangana is expected to reach ₹60,000 crore. Officials have indicated that the Bharat Future City facility will be among the largest hyperscale data centres in India.

According to state officials, the project is expected to enhance digital infrastructure supporting cloud computing, artificial intelligence, digital banking, e-commerce, healthcare, government digital services, startups and industrial enterprises. They also believe the investment will further establish Hyderabad as a key destination for cloud and data centre infrastructure as demand for AI-driven computing capacity continues to grow.

The Telangana government attributes the state’s success in attracting such investments to factors including the availability of land, reliable power and water supply, road connectivity, policy support and expedited administrative processes. Officials say these advantages have increasingly positioned Telangana as a preferred location for global companies planning large-scale data centre projects.

The Amazon project adds to Telangana’s ongoing efforts to expand its digital ecosystem through investments in cloud infrastructure and advanced computing facilities. With construction now set to begin at Bharat Future City, the project represents another significant milestone in the state’s strategy to attract long-term technology investments and support the growing requirements of AI and cloud-based services.
