Uber has appointed Philip Martin as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), strengthening the company’s cybersecurity and digital trust leadership as it continues to expand its global mobility, delivery, and logistics operations.
Martin officially joined Uber in June 2026 and will lead the company’s information security strategy, focusing on protecting Uber’s digital infrastructure, operational ecosystems, riders, drivers, couriers, and platform services globally.
Announcing the appointment, Martin stated that Uber’s real-world operational scale and responsibility toward millions of users were key factors behind his decision to join the company.
“Security at many companies protects data. At Uber, it also protects trips, riders, drivers, and couriers; real people in motion. This is an important responsibility that I’m excited to take on,” Martin said.
Prior to joining Uber, Martin served as Chief Security Officer at Coinbase, where he led a global team of more than 250 professionals across cybersecurity, trust and safety, physical security, governance, risk, compliance, business resilience, privacy, and insurance operations.
During his decade-long tenure at Coinbase, Martin played a key role in scaling the company’s security infrastructure and operational resilience as the crypto platform expanded globally. He also served on the boards of multiple Coinbase subsidiaries and remained actively involved in cybersecurity innovation, startup advisory, and open-source technology initiatives.
Before Coinbase, Martin held leadership positions at Palantir Technologies and Amazon. Earlier in his career, he served for nearly a decade as a counterintelligence agent and Arabic linguist in the U.S. Army.
Uber’s appointment of Martin comes amid rising global focus on cybersecurity, digital platform protection, fraud prevention, operational resilience, and AI-driven threat management across large-scale technology and mobility ecosystems.
Uber is a global technology platform offering ride-hailing, delivery, freight, and mobility services across international markets, connecting millions of users, drivers, merchants, and businesses through its digital ecosystem.
