Upendra Chaturvedi has joined Bandhan Bank as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), taking charge of the bank’s technology function at a time when digital transformation and technology-led banking are becoming increasingly central to the financial services sector.
Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Chaturvedi said he was excited to join Bandhan Bank and highlighted the role of technology in supporting the bank’s transformation journey. He is set to lead the technology team as the bank works to deepen its financial inclusion mission, strengthen digital banking capabilities and build scalable technology platforms.
In his new role, Chaturvedi will focus on advancing digital-first innovation, customer experience and core technology infrastructure. His mandate will involve supporting technology capabilities across customer touchpoints while strengthening the platforms required for the bank’s long-term growth.
Chaturvedi brings extensive experience in technology leadership within the banking and financial services sector. Before joining Bandhan Bank, he served as Chief Technology Officer at IndusInd Bank, where his responsibilities included technology strategy and application technology.
Prior to IndusInd Bank, Chaturvedi held technology leadership positions at IDFC FIRST Bank, where he worked on retail assets, API integrations and digital lending. Earlier in his career, he held technology roles at DBS Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays Capital, Accenture, Hewlett-Packard, Cognizant Technology Solutions and Tata Consultancy Services.
His experience spans areas including digital transformation, digital lending, API platforms, engineering, technology strategy, solution architecture, financial services technology and large-scale technology programmes. At IDFC FIRST Bank, his work included modernising APIs and building digital lending technology capabilities, according to professional-profile information.
Chaturvedi is an alumnus of the National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra and Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode. His academic and professional background combines engineering and management with extensive experience across banking technology environments.
At Bandhan Bank, his appointment comes with a broad technology mandate covering digital banking, platform scalability, customer experience and infrastructure. Chaturvedi said he looks forward to working with the bank’s leadership, partners and the wider technology community as Bandhan Bank moves into its next phase of technology-led banking.
