Zelio E-Mobility Opens Coimbatore Plant, Raises Annual Capacity to 2.4 Lakh Units

Coimbatore, India — Electric two- and three-wheeler manufacturer Zelio E-Mobility has commenced operations at a new manufacturing and assembly facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, strengthening its production and distribution presence in southern India.

The company announced the inauguration on July 13, 2026, through disclosures filed with the BSE under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations. The approximately 39,000-square-foot facility has an installed production and assembly capacity of 60,000 electric two-wheelers annually.

With the commissioning of the Coimbatore unit, Zelio’s total installed manufacturing capacity has increased by 33%—from 1.8 lakh units to 2.4 lakh units per year across four facilities. Its existing manufacturing network includes plants in Ladwa and Patan in Haryana and Cuttack in Odisha.

The Coimbatore plant has been established with a capital investment of up to ₹1 crore, funded through the company’s internal accruals. It will support the assembly of electric scooters, product storage, logistics and associated business operations.

During the initial phase, the facility is expected to assemble between 24,000 and 30,000 electric two-wheelers annually. Production will be scaled progressively in line with demand and the operational ramp-up. This figure represents the company’s initial production expectation and is separate from the plant’s installed annual capacity of 60,000 units.

The facility will primarily serve Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and southern Maharashtra. Locating assembly, storage and logistics operations closer to these markets is intended to shorten delivery routes and improve the availability of vehicles and after-sales support for dealers and customers.

The plant currently employs 30 people directly. Zelio expects to add more than 100 personnel at the facility over the coming months as part of its wider workforce expansion during the current financial year.

The new unit will initially assemble electric two-wheelers from Zelio’s existing portfolio. Details of additional models planned for the facility have not yet been announced.

Zelio E-Mobility manufactures and supplies electric two-wheelers under the Zelio brand and electric three-wheelers under the Tanga brand. The company’s operations cover vehicle manufacturing, assembly and distribution through its expanding dealer network across India.
