Defencetech startup IG Defence has raised around $5 million (approximately ₹46.2 crore) in its ongoing Pre-Series A funding round, with participation from India Accelerator, Finvolve, and several family offices. The round values the company at a post-money valuation of about ₹422 crore (roughly $45 million).
The fresh capital is expected to support the company’s efforts to scale its indigenous drone technology and strengthen its position in India’s rapidly evolving defence and aerospace ecosystem. The funding also reflects growing investor interest in homegrown defence startups aligned with the country’s push for self-reliance in critical technologies.
IG Defence, formerly known as IG Drones, has been actively involved in government-led initiatives and defence operations. Notably, the company contributed during Operation Sindoor, where it partnered with the Indian government by supplying drones and offering services such as surveying, mapping, and reconnaissance.
The startup focuses on developing advanced drone solutions for multiple applications, including defence, infrastructure, and geospatial intelligence. Its offerings are designed to reduce dependence on imported technologies while enabling scalable and cost-effective solutions for both government and enterprise use cases.
This funding comes at a time when India is increasingly prioritizing indigenous defence manufacturing, particularly in drone technology, which plays a crucial role in modern warfare, surveillance, and strategic operations. With rising demand for locally developed unmanned systems, IG Defence is positioning itself to capitalize on both domestic and global opportunities.
Overall, the investment highlights the growing momentum in India’s defencetech sector, where startups are emerging as key contributors to innovation, national security, and the broader goal of building a self-reliant technology ecosystem.
