Protec General Insurance Limited has appointed Sandipan Chakraborty as Chief Information Officer (CIO), reflecting a strategic move to build a digital-first, AI-driven insurance platform.
In this role, he will be responsible for shaping the organization’s technology vision, with a focus on developing scalable digital infrastructure and enabling a customer-centric insurance ecosystem. His mandate includes transitioning from legacy systems toward intuitive, data-driven platforms designed to meet evolving customer expectations and improve operational efficiency.
Sandipan brings close to two decades of experience, most of which he spent at Bajaj Allianz General Insurance. Prior to this appointment, he served as Executive Vice President – Deputy CIO and Head of Data Practice from April 2023 to September 2025.
During his tenure at Bajaj Allianz, he held multiple leadership roles, including Senior Vice President – Head of IT Operations, Transformation, Data Practice and BPR from April 2022 to April 2023, and Senior Vice President – Head of IT Operations, Transformation and Data Practice from April 2018 to April 2022, based in Pune District, Maharashtra, India.
Earlier, he served as Vice President – Head of Application Development & Delivery from April 2014 to March 2018, and as Assistant Vice President – Head of Application Development & Delivery from April 2008 to March 2014, where he contributed to application development and delivery initiatives.
He began his professional journey as a Senior Engineer at Apex Technologies from May 2001 to January 2003.
With extensive experience across IT operations, digital transformation, data strategy, and application development, Sandipan Chakraborty brings a strong foundation to lead Protec General Insurance Limited’s technology and innovation agenda.
