
Shagun Seda is expected to take on the role of Head of Marketing Communications at Apple India, according to sources, marking a transition from her current position as Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing Creative Strategy and Communications at JioStar.
Her move reflects a strong track record in leading large-scale, culturally relevant campaigns and shaping high-impact brand strategies across digital, sports, and entertainment ecosystems.
With over two decades of experience, she has held leadership roles across organizations such as JioStar, Viacom18 Media Private Limited, and Netflix. Her expertise spans brand strategy, creative communications, and integrated marketing, positioning her to lead Apple India’s marketing communications in a competitive and fast-evolving market.
At JioStar, she was part of the core leadership team responsible for building the foundational brand strategy for the merged entity formed by Viacom18 and Star India. Backed by Reliance and Disney, the joint venture has a combined digital and television reach of over 450 million monthly active users.
In her role, she led marketing communications and creative strategy across a wide portfolio of sports and live entertainment properties, including the Indian Premier League, ICC tournaments, Pro Kabaddi League, Wimbledon, and the Olympics. Her work also extended into large-scale cultural and experiential initiatives, such as the digital livestream of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour in India, which attracted millions of viewers and drove significant engagement.
Among her notable contributions was leading the marketing strategy for IPL 2025 across both television and digital platforms, contributing to one of the most-watched seasons in the tournament’s history, with a combined audience of around one billion viewers. She also played a role in introducing digital-first experiences, including livestreaming major Indian festivals such as Mahashivratri and Ram Navami on JioHotstar, positioning connected devices as “virtual temples” for large audiences.
Before her tenure at JioStar, she was part of the leadership team at Netflix India, where she served as Head of Brand, Film and Series Marketing. During this time, she contributed to repositioning Netflix into a more culturally relevant and widely accessible platform in India. Her campaigns for global titles such as Money Heist and Stranger Things generated strong engagement and helped expand the platform’s reach.
With a career defined by brand transformation and large-scale audience engagement, Shagun Seda brings extensive experience in marketing and communications as she prepares to take on her next role at Apple India.
