Google Strengthens Cloud Security with Wiz Integration and New AI Security Agents

Google is expanding its cloud security capabilities by integrating Wiz and introducing a new generation of AI-powered security agents, as part of its broader push to secure enterprise AI environments. The announcement was made at the Google Cloud Next 2026 event, where the company outlined its vision of “AI-led cyber defense” to counter increasingly sophisticated threats.

A key highlight of the update is the deeper integration of Wiz, the cybersecurity platform acquired by Google, into its cloud ecosystem. The newly launched Wiz AI Application Protection Platform (AI-APP) provides end-to-end security coverage, spanning from code development to cloud infrastructure and runtime environments. This platform is designed to protect applications across multicloud, hybrid, and AI-driven systems, reflecting the growing complexity of enterprise IT environments.

Google also introduced a suite of AI-driven security agents within its Security Operations platform. These include agents for threat hunting, detection engineering, and third-party context analysis, all aimed at automating cybersecurity workflows. These agents can proactively identify unknown attack patterns, fill detection gaps, and enrich security insights, enabling faster and more efficient threat response.

The company emphasized a shift toward “agentic defense,” where AI systems are used not only to build applications but also to secure them. New tools such as AI-BOM (AI bill of materials) have been introduced to track and secure AI-generated code, while expanded Wiz capabilities help protect AI applications across different platforms and cloud providers.

Another important aspect of the update is the focus on securing AI development itself. With enterprises increasingly deploying AI agents, Google is addressing risks such as shadow AI, unauthorized access, and vulnerabilities in AI-generated workflows. The integration of Wiz enhances visibility across cloud environments, allowing organizations to detect and mitigate risks more effectively in real time.

These developments come as cybersecurity challenges evolve alongside AI adoption. Google’s strategy reflects the growing need to “use AI to fight AI,” where automated systems play a central role in defending against increasingly complex and fast-moving cyber threats.

Overall, the combination of Wiz’s cloud security platform and Google’s AI-driven security agents positions Google Cloud as a stronger competitor in the enterprise security market. By embedding security directly into AI and cloud workflows, the company aims to provide organizations with more resilient, scalable, and intelligent protection in the era of agentic AI.
