Sierra, founded by Bret Taylor, has acquired French AI startup Fragment as part of its ongoing strategy to expand its enterprise AI capabilities and global footprint.
Fragment specializes in helping businesses integrate artificial intelligence into their existing workflows, making it easier for companies to adopt AI without disrupting operations. The acquisition is expected to enhance Sierra’s core platform, which focuses on building AI-powered customer service agents for enterprises.
As part of the deal, Fragment’s co-founders, Olivier Moindrot and Guillaume Genthial, will join Sierra to support its product development and expansion efforts, particularly in France and the broader European market.
This marks Sierra’s third acquisition in a short span, following its recent purchases of Japan-based Opera Tech and voice AI company Receptive AI. The rapid deal activity reflects Sierra’s aggressive growth strategy as it looks to consolidate capabilities and talent in the competitive AI agent space.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, although Fragment is estimated to have raised around $2 million in seed funding prior to the deal.
Sierra, which has raised over $630 million from investors including Sequoia and Benchmark and is valued at approximately $10 billion, is positioning itself as a major player in enterprise AI. Its platform is already used by companies such as Casper, Clear, and Brex, and the addition of Fragment’s workflow integration expertise is expected to further strengthen its offering.
The acquisition highlights a broader trend in the AI industry, where larger platforms are acquiring smaller, specialized startups to accelerate product development, expand into new markets, and build more comprehensive AI-driven solutions for enterprise use.
