Google is expanding its AI-powered education offerings with new Gemini-based study tools designed to help students prepare for competitive and entrance examinations, including NEET, JEE, GRE, SAT, AP and MCAT.
The new tools bring exam-focused learning support across Google Search, Gemini and YouTube, giving students additional ways to study, practise questions and work through learning material. The initiative is aimed at making preparation more personalised by using Google’s AI capabilities to support students during different stages of their exam preparation.
For students in India, the initiative also includes access to Google’s AI subscription offering. Eligible college students in more than 140 countries can access free Google AI subscriptions, while eligible students in India will receive Google AI Plus at no cost for 12 months.
The India offering includes access to Gemini, 400GB of storage and discounted YouTube Premium bundles, providing students with a broader set of AI and digital services alongside the education-focused tools.
The integration of AI into exam preparation is particularly significant for students preparing for highly competitive examinations. Tools that can assist with learning and practice can provide students with additional support outside traditional classroom and coaching environments.
Google’s approach brings together three of its major platforms — Search, Gemini and YouTube — within the broader learning experience. Search can help students find information, Gemini provides AI-powered assistance, while YouTube offers access to educational and explanatory content.
The availability of these tools also reflects the growing role of generative AI in education. Students are increasingly using AI-based systems not only to find information but also to understand concepts, practise problems and organise their learning.
For Indian students preparing for examinations such as NEET and JEE, the availability of Google AI Plus for 12 months adds another digital resource to the existing preparation ecosystem. The combination of Gemini access, additional storage and YouTube-related benefits is intended to provide eligible students with a wider set of tools for their academic needs.
The development highlights Google’s broader push to integrate AI into everyday learning and make its AI services more accessible to students. As these technologies become increasingly available, their role in education is moving beyond basic information search toward more interactive and personalised learning support.
