The inaugural World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 is set to showcase cutting-edge AI tools designed to combat misinformation. These innovations, developed by winners of the TruthTell Hackathon, will be presented at the summit’s grand finale in Mumbai from May 1 to 4.
Organized by the India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, the TruthTell Hackathon is part of the ‘Create in India Challenges.’ The initiative aims to develop smart tools capable of detecting false content in real-time across live news, social media, and videos.
From over 5,600 global entries, 25 teams were shortlisted to present their ideas in Delhi. Five teams emerged as winners, each receiving a prize of ₹10 lakh:
Team Unicron (Delhi): Developed ‘Anvesha,’ an AI tool that identifies false information in texts, images, and videos.
Team Alchemist (Dehradun): Created ‘VeriStream,’ which utilizes AI and mapping to fact-check live broadcasts.
Team Whooshing Liars (Bengaluru): Introduced ‘Nexus of Truth,’ capable of detecting deepfakes and false news in multiple languages.
Team Bug Smashers (Delhi): Developed ‘Live Truth,’ providing live credibility scores and alerts using GPS technology.
Team Vortex Squad (Bengaluru): Designed a system for real-time fact-checking during live events.
These AI-driven solutions will be featured at the WAVES 2025 summit, highlighting India’s commitment to leveraging technology for ethical journalism and combating misinformation.
