Apple has introduced a redesigned iPad mini in India with an 8.5-inch OLED display, an A20 Pro processor and an entry price of ₹82,900 for the Wi-Fi model. The cellular version starts at ₹1,00,900. Pre-orders are scheduled to open on October 28, with retail availability beginning November 6 through Apple’s Indian channels and authorised sellers.
The device replaces the previous 8.3-inch LCD with a Super Retina XDR OLED panel while retaining a similar overall footprint. Apple reduced the display bezels by 24%, increased peak brightness to 1,200 nits and specified a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1. A nano-texture display option will be available for users working in environments where glare is a concern.
At 5.4 millimetres thick, the tablet is thinner and lighter than the preceding model. It carries an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, expanding its potential use in field service, healthcare, logistics, aviation and other mobile professional environments where compact tablets are used for specialised applications.
The A20 Pro is manufactured using a 2-nanometre process and includes Neural Accelerators in its GPU cores and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple claims up to 4.5 times faster AI performance, up to 2.7 times higher graphics performance and as much as 60% faster multithreaded CPU performance than the previous iPad mini. These are company benchmarks and will require independent testing across production applications.
Other changes include a 12-megapixel landscape-positioned Center Stage camera, faster wireless and cellular connectivity, rapid charging and what Apple calls an Acoustic Display audio system. The device runs iPadOS 27 with the latest Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features, including on-screen contextual assistance and support for on-device models.
The ₹82,900 starting price represents a substantial move upmarket for Apple’s smallest tablet. The combination of OLED, a current-generation processor and improved environmental resistance positions the product for professional and premium consumer use rather than as an entry-level iPad.
