Meta has appointed Chirantan “CJ” Desai as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer to lead its newly formed enterprise initiative, with Desai reporting directly to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The new unit will focus on bringing Meta’s artificial intelligence models, agents and tools to developers and businesses through an enterprise platform.
Desai announced that he is joining Meta to lead the company’s enterprise efforts, with the new organisation focused on translating Meta’s AI capabilities into products designed for businesses and developers.
The initiative comes as Meta looks to bring together its AI models, large-scale infrastructure, agents and business ecosystem to create new enterprise products and services. The company said its Meta Enterprise Platform will include AI offerings such as Muse, Meta Business Agent and coding tools.
Desai said the first wave of AI significantly expanded what individuals could accomplish, while the next phase could see businesses redesign how they innovate, sell, serve customers and manage day-to-day operations. He highlighted the potential for AI to transform workflows ranging from product development and customer engagement to decision-making and business scaling.
Meta sees its existing AI capabilities and business ecosystem as an advantage as it expands into enterprise technology. The company has advanced AI models and large-scale infrastructure, along with AI agents and an established ecosystem that already supports millions of advertisers and hundreds of millions of businesses.
Desai will be responsible for bringing these capabilities together under the new enterprise platform and turning Meta’s AI technology into products and services that companies can deploy within their businesses.
The appointment marks a move for Desai from MongoDB, where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer. MongoDB announced on September 28, 2026, that Desai had stepped down from the role with immediate effect to pursue a senior position at Meta.
Following his departure, MongoDB appointed Dev Ittycheria as interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Ittycheria previously served as MongoDB’s President and CEO from 2014 to 2025. During his earlier tenure, MongoDB grew from approximately $35 million to more than $2.3 billion in annual revenue, according to the company.
Desai had joined MongoDB as President and CEO after a career spanning more than 25 years in technology and leadership roles across cloud infrastructure, enterprise software and cybersecurity. Before MongoDB, he served as President of Product and Engineering at Cloudflare and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow, including as President and Chief Operating Officer. He also held senior positions at EMC and Symantec and began his technology career at Oracle.
At MongoDB, Desai was responsible for leading the company’s product and engineering direction as it expanded its database platform for AI, cloud and real-time applications. MongoDB provides database technology used by businesses to build and operate applications, with capabilities spanning data management, search, analytics and AI.
At Meta, Desai will now focus on a different part of the enterprise technology landscape, bringing together the company’s AI models, agents and developer and business tools into an enterprise-focused platform.
The move reflects Meta’s broader effort to extend its AI capabilities beyond consumer-facing products and into business applications. Under Desai’s leadership, the newly established enterprise unit will work on translating Meta’s AI investments into tools that developers and companies can use across their own operations.
Desai said he was grateful for the opportunity to lead the initiative at Meta and also thanked the teams and customers he worked with during his time at MongoDB.
