CopilotKit Raises $27 Million to Help Developers Build App-Native AI Agents

Seattle-based startup CopilotKit has raised $27 million in a Series A funding round to expand its platform for deploying AI agents directly inside applications. The round was led by Glilot Capital, NFX, and SignalFire, as investor interest continues to grow around AI-native software infrastructure.

The company is focused on enabling developers to integrate AI agents seamlessly into existing apps and workflows, moving beyond traditional chatbot interfaces toward more interactive, context-aware experiences. Its core technology, an open-source protocol called AG-UI, standardizes how AI agents communicate with application interfaces, supporting features such as state sharing, streaming interactions, and human-in-the-loop workflows.

CopilotKit’s founders, Atai Barkai and Uli Barkai, believe the next evolution of AI will center on “agentic interfaces,” where AI systems actively interact with software environments instead of operating as isolated chat windows. The platform allows developers to create dynamic UI experiences where AI agents can generate interactive components such as charts, dashboards, and workflows within the app itself.

The AG-UI protocol has already gained notable traction across the AI ecosystem. According to reports, it is supported by major cloud and AI infrastructure providers including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Oracle, alongside popular developer frameworks such as LangChain and PydanticAI. The company says the protocol now sees millions of installs per week and is being used by a significant number of Fortune 500 companies.

CopilotKit is also building an enterprise-focused toolkit on top of AG-UI, adding features such as self-hosted deployment, support services, and enterprise-grade controls for organizations looking to deploy AI agents securely within their products. Customers reportedly include companies such as Cisco, DocuSign, Deutsche Telekom, and S&P Global.

The funding highlights growing momentum around AI agent infrastructure, as startups and enterprises increasingly shift from standalone AI assistants toward deeply integrated, application-native AI systems capable of interacting directly with users and business workflows.
